Michael Hughes is a seasoned entrepreneur who loves to build businesses around the tremendous qualities he sees in people. When Michael’s stepdaughter married a hard-working Veteran, Robert Martinez, the gears started turning. The first time Michael saw Robert coming home from work with tire stains head to toe and shirt soaked through with sweat, he knew he could start a business with him. However, Michael and Robert both had a plan of moving to the Northwest, and they knew – whatever they did businesswise – they wanted to go full force!!

Now that Robert is in Portland with his family full time, and Michael is in Portland about half of the year, it was time! 

Michael knew he wanted to keep the business organized meticulously, so a lightbulb clicked in his head of one of the most organized people he met recently, April Nielson. April is just what Northwest Junk Runners needs to make sure the business has prompt answering of telephones calls, organized records of our customers, and unmistakable guidance for our Runners in the field. While April currently works remotely in Arizona with her beautiful dog, Layla, she believes Northwest Junk Runners will do such a fantastic job for our customers that it will grow the business to a full-time position for her in an area of the country that has her heart and soul.
